Between the 19th  and the 20th  of June 2014 in Berlin took place the 6th World Convention on Stevia. Romania was represented in the event by the researcher and biochemist Romulus Ion Scorei, university professor at the University of Craiova, who held a presentation on Green Sugar, star brand of Laboratoarele Remedia, entitled “Green Sugar – a healthy sugar, natural non caloric sweetener used in the human nutrition”.



Among the participants were prestigious universities and prominent international companies, who show an ever greater attention to these safe and efficient alternatives to sugar: Technische Universität  Berlin, Bonn University, Universidade Lusofana, University of Craiova, Universität Leipzig, University of Groningen, Polish Academy of Sciences, Università degli studi di Napoli, University of Aarhus, Wageningen University, Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences, Tate & Lyle, PG Goodhouse, Givaudan International AG, Cloetta, PolisanKimyaTil A.S, Bayn Europe, RV Cuatro, Galam Group, Rastevia Agro Industrial, Firmenich SA, Mandis ltd, DSM, Stevia Hellas Corp, Natural Oil Group, EckesGranini, Qingdao Natural Food Ingredient, Sweetleaf.

Professor Romulus Ion Scorei discovered the benefits of Calcium fructoborate in treating cancer. The biochemist set up the only research institute in the world focused on the research of the natural compounds of Bohr, the Bioboron Research Institute, located in Podari.

In his study, “Stevia – the green sugar or healthy sugar, natural sweetener with 0 calories used in human nutrition” developed together with Anca-Mihaela Bulearca and Florentina-Ileana Badea, researcher Romulus Ion Scorei shows that: “the steviol glycosides, parts of the stevia which give it its sweet taste, are natural sweeteners, low-calorie, very stable, easy to process thermally, being used in drinks and foods. Steviosides, rebaudiosides A, steviol and so steviol also present anti-hyperglycemic, anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammation, anti-tumor, anti-diarrhea, diuretic and immuno-modulatory actions, becoming safe and efficient alternatives to sugar.”
